MSG Duty

Just to clarify things....

1. I'm not in Iraq.

2. I'm on Marine Security Guard duty which means I'm part of the unit of Marines that guards American embassies around the world.

3. I'm in a Spanish-speaking country but I won't get more specific than that.

Matter not where you serve. You wear the uniform and, for whatever it's worth, you've earned respect.

Can you elaborate as much as possible regarding the PT at the school? I'm currently working on getting my TFRS request in for MSG and although my monitor told me he wouldn't support my request since I've been out of the FMF for 3 yrs, I believe it's still worth trying for. At least if I get denied, I can include it in my OMPF. Nonetheless, I'm just trying to prepare myself as much as possible. Also, how much of an influence does family play on where you get stationed? I'm pinning on Gunny in March of 08, have a wife (born abroad in Panama as a US citizen) & a daughter (school age, 5) and a son (2). I've been told they would never put me in central/south america because that's where she was born & raised. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Adam

Jut thought I would play guess where I am game. ;-)

If the Spanish speaking country is not Spain then you're in Latin America, doing the tango, soda pop.

Excellent blog. I've always been fascinated by woman in the military. I almost enlisted back in 1978 after college(I'm showing my age!), but things didn't quite work out. Back when I took the tests it was those scanned answer sheets like SATs.

I grew up in Baltimore, but in in New York now.

God bless you and thanks for serving!

I too found your blog by accident... it was referred by blogger as one of noteworthiness (is that a word? lol) Very interesting to hear about your adventures abroad. I'll have to come back to read more. I am wondering if this time of year is difficult for you... the holidays etc, or if you have a community of friends there that helps make it special in a different way.

Cheers! Kate
